Salon Nyla has been a Portland institution for over 35 year and an AVEDA concept
salon for the past 25 years. With the recent semi-retirement of Nyla herself, the salon is now owned and operated by long-time employee, Gina Jones, who ensures
Salon Nyla continues the tradition of excellent customer service, welcoming and comfortable surroundings and the highest level of quality hair color and styling to be found anywhere in Portland.
Meet The Team
Gina Jones
Gina began her career at Salon Nyla in 1997, training directly under Nyla Thomas. In 2018 she purchased the salon, keeping
the name as a tribute to her friend and mentor.
Gina's goal is to create an inviting comfortable environment for guests to receive exceptional
services, and for employees to have a safe and positive space to perform their hair magic.
Gina's specialty is precision hair cuts, curly hair, perms and hair color. In her spare time, she enjoys making jewelry, gardening, and camping with her family.

Jennifer DeCoteau
Jennifer was born and raised in the Portland area. She joined the Salon Nyla team in 2022 with over ten years of experience in hair design. She is skilled in haircuts, hair color, perms, and specializes in corrective hair color.
Jennifer loves animals, nature and adventure. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and paddle boarding.
Nyla opened her first salon in 1984, years later and multiple successful salons later, Nyla has stepped away from ownership to focus on the art of hair and her clients. She has been an active member of the Soroptimists International of the Americas for the last 40 years. An organization that encourages women's empowerment through education.
